02Your approach to assessment

03Fair, explicit calculations
Missing isn't the same as excused.
Give unfinished or exceptional work the status it deserves. Clear badges explain what is still owed, what doesn't apply and what should be left out of the calculation.
- Missing work counts as zero; an empty, ungraded cell does not.
- Excused, exempt and incomplete work is excluded from the average.
- Use keyboard shortcuts for common statuses and replace them with a score when ready.
04Make feedback useful
Put the next step beside the grade.
A number tells a student where they are. A thoughtful comment helps them move forward. Attach feedback to a specific grade and choose when to email it to the student and family.
- Add, edit or remove a written comment for a grade.
- See which cells already have feedback through the comment indicator.
- Keep a comment in the gradebook or choose to send an email update.

Yes. Set grade boundaries and category weights, and configure how terms contribute to the year. The grading formula makes those choices visible.
Does a blank grade count as zero?
No. A blank cell is ungraded and does not affect the average. The Missing status counts as zero; Excused, Exempt and Incomplete are excluded.
Can we send comments to families?
Yes. A grade comment has an optional email action. The per-grade comment stays attached to that grade; formal report-card comments and components are managed separately.
