What happens, step by step
- 1 Start on the admin Dashboard; click Enrollments, then Manage Forms.
- 2 Choose Drafts, then click Edit on the form’s row.
- 3 Open Edit field for the question.
- 4 Turn on Required; click Done.

Why can't I publish an empty required dropdown?
Open its editor, enter Options (one per line), then save and publish again.
Why can I not make a system identity question optional?
Required identity fields are protected. Add a separate optional question with Add Field when you need extra information that is not required.
