Reset your password once, then choose and switch between your schools

Once your schools use the same sign-in email, reset your password one time. That password then opens every school on the email: choose one when you sign in, and switch from the top bar.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use one email for more than one school?

Yes. Each school keeps its own account for you, but MarkTrack signs you in by email. When your accounts at different schools use exactly the same email and the same password, you sign in once, choose a school, and switch between schools from the top bar.

I already use a different email at my other school. How do I combine them?

Pick the email you want to keep. Ask an admin at the school that has your other email to change your sign-in email to that one: People, your profile, Edit, Sign-in email, Review change. Then click Forgot password? on the sign-in page, enter that email and set a new password from the link we send. From then on one email and one password open both schools. Nothing is merged: each school keeps its own record, classes and history for you.

Why do I have to reset my password after my email is changed?

For two reasons. Changing a sign-in email switches off that account's old password on purpose, so whoever had the old email cannot still get in, which leaves the account with no password you know. And your accounts at the two schools had separate passwords. Setting a new password from the Forgot password email gives that same new password to every account that uses your email, at every school. That one reset is what joins them.

What happens if I skip the password reset?

You can still sign in, but only to the school whose password you type. The other school does not appear on Choose an organization or in the school switcher, because that password does not open it.

I reset my password but I still see only one school.

Check that the email is exactly the same at both schools. A different spelling, an extra dot, or a plus address such as name+teacher@gmail.com counts as a different email. Then ask the other school to check that your account there is active, not archived, and linked to one of its schools. Once they fix it, sign out and sign in again.

The reset email did not arrive.

It is sent to your sign-in email, so check that inbox's spam or junk folder and wait a few minutes. You can click Forgot password? again; always use the newest email, because each request replaces the earlier link, and links expire after 3 days. If nothing arrives, ask your school to check the email on your account.

Can I change my own sign-in email?

Not unless you are an admin. The sign-in email is what your account signs in with, so a school admin changes it for you. Ask an admin at each school whose account needs the new email. Admins can change their own, and only the organization owner can change the owner's email.

How do I switch schools after signing in?

Click the school name at the top left of the screen. The schools in your current organization are listed first, and your other schools are under Other organizations. Click one to switch; you are not asked to sign in again, and it opens that school's dashboard. The same list is under Settings, Organizations.

Why did the admin's screen not say the two accounts are now linked?

Each school only sees its own records, so an admin at one school never sees your accounts at another. The accounts join only because the emails match, which is why the password reset afterwards matters.

Will changing my email affect my classes, grades, invoices or history?

No. Everything stays with your account at that school. What changes is the email you sign in with and where that school's emails, invoices and receipts are sent. You are signed out on your devices, including the mobile app, and a confirmation email goes to the new address.

Can I be a teacher at one school and a parent or student at another?

Yes. Each account keeps its own role at its school. Choose an organization shows your role under each school's name, and each school opens with that role.

If I change my password later, does it change at every school?

Forgot password always updates every school on your email. Changing your password in Settings updates the other schools that were already sharing your old password.

What if a school adds me using the email I already use somewhere else?

If you have already set your own password at your first school, there is nothing to do: the new account opens with the password you already use, and both schools are listed the next time you sign in.
