Find a student's whole-day attendance
With a day rule on, every class mark stays as it is, and each school day also gets one whole-day result, marked =. See it on the class attendance hover and the student's attendance page, and open any result to see how it was worked out.

What happens, step by step
- 1 Start on the admin Dashboard; click Attendance in the sidebar. The note under the title says whole days are worked out from every class.
- 2 Hover any class mark. Under Whole day (all classes) the card shows that student's whole-day result for the date, the reason, how many classes it read, and the sentence and version that decided it.
- 3 Click the student's name to open their attendance page.
- 4 The rate at the top is Whole-day attendance, with days absent and days tardy. Their class marks are summed up in one line underneath.
- 5 The Whole day row above the classes shows one calculated result for each school day.
- 6 Click any = result to open its explanation: the result, and the classes it looked at, with Used beside the ones that decided it.
- 7 Click How the rule got there to see each sentence in order, and the one that fit. When classes met at the same time, it names them and says they count as one class.
Frequently asked questions
What does the = mark mean?
It marks a whole-day result: one result for the school day, worked out from all of the student's classes by your school's day rule. It is never another class mark.
Why does a class say Absent when the whole day doesn't?
Each class keeps its own mark. The whole day reads every class together, so missing the last class can count as Left Early, and missing one class can still leave the day Present, depending on your rule.
Why is the rate 100% when the student was absent?
Only unexcused absent days lower the whole-day rate, and a half-day absence counts as half. The card still counts every absent day and says how many were excused.
Do families see whole-day results?
Only after the school turns on Show whole-day results to families on the day rule page. Until then families see class marks, and report cards and alert emails use class marks too.
